Poor Conversion Campaign

At SEOExpert.tv, we are always interested in improving how we do things both with Search and with other mediums of Internet Marketing. The topic of today’s post is a poor conversion campaign that was delivered in the form of an email to my inbox today from Cier Corporation.

When I receive an email about SEO services, I expect to see SEO results and buzzwords. When I receive an email about cookies, I expect to see some yummy looking eye candy. When I receive an email focused on the topic of Conversion, I expect to see conversion focal points, such as call-to-action buttons, prominent phone numbers, and a human component (such as that of Disney where a person or character always seems to be making eye contact with you).

That’s not at all what I received. Cier’s email was very copy-heavy with no imagery other than a blue banner at the top. When I did click through to see if the email was a joke or really pushing conversion with no conversion attributes. The landing page was just as bad, but did have a chart to look at.

Take a look at the video above and let me know your thoughts. If you were selling someone on conversion, would you have done more in terms of imagery or call-to-action, or did I completely miss the point here?
